In 2020 our world was turned upside down. I don’t think any of us could have anticipated that 2020 would be such an impactful year. But here we are… The country I live in was sent into a lock down and I thankfully got to spend that time with my family. Most days staying at home. But I also got to finish my university classes online. This was a huge blessing, giving me some work every day.
During this lock down, I decided to move out of my studio apartment. The costs were too high especially considering that I didn’t stay there during the lock down and probably wouldn’t return until September. I had a job waiting for me but when the lock down began I couldn’t work there anymore. The country I live in still have some measures in place for the virus, so my university has is still offering classes online. However… BIG NEWS. I graduated my bachelor in law and am now completing my masters in law. My official ceremony is in October, and I am really hoping it can still take place as planned. Of course in a corona virus safe manner.
Since the official lock down ended, I have been spending time renovating my new home. My partner and I hope that we will be able to move in soon. I will have some blog posts coming soon about the renovation process as well as the decorating and moving process overall so stay tuned for that.
Now we are at the end of this lock down, I hope to get back into a better schedule. I loved waking up early every day and getting to work out in the morning. Sadly, I lost some of this motivation in the past few months. I want to get back into my routine and spend my days focusing on what makes me happy.

I have a lot of free time on my hands lately so I wanted to try new hobbies. I have always loved painting and acrylic pour always seemed fun and cool to make. This is my first ever attempt so please be kind. First, I’ll share my tips from my personal experience and then the final result.
First, I got all my materials ready. The materials I used are:
a painting shirt
I used plastic bags to cover my table and floor around the painting because once you start pouring it can get very messy. You may want to wear gloves to keep your hands clean but paint does wash off so it’s really just personal preference. I also wore a paint shirt.
Once your table is covered in for protection, you may want to lay out some cups so your canvas can be elevated off the table. This helps you pick up the canvas once it has paint on it.
Now, you are ready to mix your paint. First, you will need to choose which colours you want to use. I chose 3-4 colours per painting but if you want to make a more colourful painting you can always choose more. You will want to put each colour paint into different cups, I used reusable plastic cups. You need to then add a bit of your pouring medium to each cup in order to get a less viscous consistency of paint, which makes it easier to pour. I simply kept adding little amounts at a time to the paint and stirring it together until i got the perfect consistency for my paint.
There are many methods to make an acrylic pour painting. I decided to pour every colour into one cup. I started with the lightest colour and went darker, so that the lightest would be on top of the canvas in the end. Then I placed the cup upside down on the canvas and lifted the cup. After which I tilted the canvas until I got a pattern I liked.
After I was done I went over the canvas with the chef torch, in order to pop air bubbles which appeared in the paint.
Other techniques I really want to try next time, are to place the paint into a cup on the canvas with the bottom cut open. You then put paint on the canvas, the open cup over the paint and fill that cup with layers of different paint. This will create a beautiful array of colours, and if you use the blow torch it will create bubbles of paint. I also want to use a hairdryer to make the colours go in beautiful patterns against a white or black background. I also really want to experiment with more colours and a black base colour to contrast from.

At the moment we all have a little more time on our hands. If you have been wanting to start watching a TV series but don’t know where to start, here are my 10 favourite TV shows that I recommend.
Friends is my favourite TV show of all time. It is funny, positive and the story line will have you hooked. This is a light hearted tv show. If you’ve never watched it, I would definitely recommend you start, it will not disappoint.
How i met your mother
How I met your mother is also a favourite of mine. It is also a light hearted comedy show with a storyline that will also have you hooked. Definitely worth watching.
Brooklyn nine nine
Brooklyn Nine Nine is a really funny comedy show. I love the story line throughout the show.
I have been watching modern family for years and is one of my favourite comedy TV shows. It also has a great story line to follow.
Young Sheldon is spin off comedy show of the big bang theory, showing Sheldon Cooper as a child.
Gilmore Girls is an awesome show which is funny but also has a great story line to follow. This show will have you hooked.
House has been a favourite of mine for years. Every episode is unique and will keep you hooked until the last second. There is also a really good background story between the characters which you can follow along with. Without giving away too much, I will say I loved the ending to this show.
The x files
The X Files is a science fiction classic, with a drama story line which will keep you hooked until the very end.
Suits is a great drama series with a captivating story line. I personally find the legal cases in it super interesting as well.
Stranger things is a thrilling drama and a definite must-see. I loved all seasons of it so far, it will not disappoint.

DIY is a perfect mothers Day gift. It is personal and you can make something special your mother will love. You can try embroidery, building furniture, tie-dye clothing, buying plants and making special made pots, or painting a painting.
2. Spa day
This can be at home or to a spa nearby. If a spa day isn’t something your mother would like to do then another day trip would be nice, such as a more sporty day out, playing football or basketball with your family. This can also be adapted at home, such as board games or badminton. For an at home spa day you can buy face masks, make special cucumber lemon water and snacks. You can also buy special kits online.
3. Gift card for a place to visit or a favourite shop
Gift cards are a great gift. You can get a gift card for a place you want to visit in the future but cannot attend now or for a favourite shop, sometimes its nice to let your mother pick out her favourite items if you don’t know which one that is.
4. High tea
Going out for High tea is an amazing experience. This offers a special memory and a personal present for your mother. I find that experiences are always the best presents.
Jewellery is the perfect Mother’s Day gift. This can be personalised in a necklace or bracelet with a nice message or simply a pair of earnings she has always wanted. This is a nice gift which will last forever.
6. A tasting set
Online there are gift sets which provide a range of products to taste different kinds; Such as wine, beer, coffee or tea. There are also companies which bring wine tasting to your home and also offer gift cards for this.
Pottery making or painting is a fun activity to do together and you get a great gift at the end of it. There are also gift cards for this if this cannot be done at the moment.
8. Favourite dinner
Making a favourite dinner is a special mothers day gift. You can make a special Mother’s Day menu and set the table nice to create a restaurant experience in your home. You could also take her out to her favourite restaurant or get a gift card to take her out at a later date.
9. Day trip to a city nearby
Day trip to a city nearby is a great present for mothers day. You could stay at a hotel overnight and go to tourist locations or even just a simple shopping trip. Another option is to buy a gift card for the hotel or book the hotel for a few months later, this still provides physical present which can be given on mothers day.
10. Special family picture
There are plenty of websites which make a large canvas out of a picture, a personalised calendar or mug, or other personalised products from a special picture. You can select a family picture and this will make a perfect present for your mother.

Date nights are fun but sometimes can be expensive. Therefore, I always try to think of ideas to have a fun and affordable date night at home. Here are my top 5 at home date night ideas.
A great idea for an at home date is to watch a movie. I always buy movie snacks and drinks, such a popcorn or candy. Another great idea is to make the movie snacks together or come up with a competion for who can make the best snack. This could be home make popcorn or ice cream or even a delicious cupcake.
I normally pick a movie together that we have never seen before. There are loads of online providers where you can rent a movie to watch, or search through old DVD’s or check out a service you already pay for, such as Netflix.
2. Cook a meal together
Another favourite of mine is to cook a meal together. I normally choose a new recipe but this can be anything from homemade pizza to an amazing risotto. This could also be a dessert, like a cake or ice cream. I always choose a recipe and get all the ingredients at the supermarket. Then carve out a couple of hours to prep and make the meal together. I always make sure to set the table with candles and flowers to make it more of a romantic date night.
3. Tasting evening
A cool date night idea is to have a tasting evening. This could be buying different types of wine or champagne, beer, tea, coffee or whatever you are interested in trying out. This could also be food such as different types of chocolate. There are websites where you can buy small tester bottles or sets of whatever you want to try. Another way to do this is to buy small wine bottles or different types of beer you have always wanted to try. You can also buy different types of ground coffee and buy a cafetiere. This way to can make the perfect taster amount. This also works with different types of tea. Either buy the tea bags or the separate leaves to be able to control the amount you put into the cups. For food, you can prepare small portions of recipes you want to try or buy different bars of chocolate. This is definitely a fun and different at home date idea.
4. Have a game night
Having a game night is such a fun way to spend time together at home. This can be with small games, such as a simple card game, or one big monopoly night, or even just doing a puzzle. Video games are also fun to do together and you can make a little competition out of it. You can buy or make fun snacks and have fun drinks with it. You can make snacks together or make a competition out of who can make the best snack. I find it a nice and fun way to spend time together at home.
DIY is a great way to spend time together and is always entertaining. This could be to paint a painting, there are loads of tutorials online, building a table together, tie dye clothing or make candles. I would recommend trying to find an activity you both would like to try. You can find most of the necessary items you need online, if you cannot go to the store. there are loads of ideas on Pinterest and tutorials on Youtube.

I am currently in my early 20’s and I have realised that there is still a lot i want accomplish long term as well as short term. So I decided to make a list of things I want to be able to do within the next few years. Hopefully through my blog I can take you along my journey as I complete each thing on my list. Here are the 25 things I want to do before I turn 25.
Travel outside of Europe
Travelling outside of Europe is a big dream of mine. I got to visit america when I was younger but I have a lot of other destinations on my travel bucket list. I am most excited to visit places like Hawaii, Canada, Japan and Australia. Hopefully in the next few years I can visit at least one of them. This will take a lot of saving and hard work! 2. Visit two new cities in Europe
I really want to start visit more cities in Europe, even for just a weekend. There are so many beautiful cities in Europe, which are easily accessible, by train, car or plane. My top favourite cities which I am very excited to one day visit are; Paris, London and Porto.
3. Learn a new language
Currently I speak 3 languages however I would love to learn another. One language I have always wanted to learn is Spanish. So I hope I can save some money to be able to take a class one day soon and work on teaching myself some basics too. Here are my top tips for learning a new language.
4. Get a pet
I love animals. Getting a pet of my own is a big dream of mine. However, I do want to make sure I am financially stable enough and have a home with enough space to give a pet a good home.
5. Move to a new town
When I started my bachelor at university I moved to a new town, however I do want to move one more time for myself. I want to move to a town where I can build a home for myself.
6. Watch the sunrise and sunset
Something that I have always wanted to do but have never consciously made a lot of time for is watching the sunrise and sunset. Therefore, its on my list and I will be making more time to watch it. This also helps take a moment to pause in the chaos of life and just enjoy these beautiful moments that happen every day.
7. Visit more of the country that I live in
I have realised that there is still so much I haven’t visited in the country I live in. I want to make sure that I visit more cities and more beautiful tourist spots.
8. Improve my photography skills
A dream of mine has always been to become better at photography. Therefore, before I am 25 I want to take time to improve my photography skills.
9. Obtain my bachelor degree
I am in my final year of my bachelor so I want to have my bachelor degree before I turn 25.
10. Maintain a healthy lifestyle
Something I am really passionate about is having a healthy lifestyle. This includes healthy eating as well as healthy daily habits. I want to make sure I maintain this every day, at least until I turn 25.
11. Learn piano
To learn piano has always been a dream of mine. I have tried to self teach but for the next few years I want to make this more intentional and really stick to learning how to play piano.
12. Learn a new recipe
I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes. I am definitely not a highly skilled cook but I think it would be fun to learn some new recipes.
13. Go skiing
I used to go skiing when I was younger. However, it has been a long time since I was last able to go skiing. Therefore, I want to be able to go on at least one ski trip before I turn 25. I also want to take a ski lesson before I go so I can practice this.
14. Take a vacation to the beach
I love visiting the beach. It can be so beautiful and relaxing. So I want to plan one beach vacation even if it is just an overnight trip to the beach. Make sure I make the most of every aspect my beautiful country has to offer.
15. learn to scuba dive
This one might be more difficult to achieve and more expensive but I really want to learn how to scuba dive. I have always been interested in it but never go after that dream so I hope that before I turn 25 I get to do this.
16. Go snorkelling
I have also never been snorkelling. I really want to be able to go snorkelling somewhere beautiful.
17. Start a masters degree
Since I will be finishing my bachelor degree soon, I want to take that next step and start my masters in law.
18. Take a spontaneous trip
Taking a spontaneous trip is something I think will be really fun to do. I want to just pack a bag and leave. It doesn’t have to be to another country but at least a one night trip or a spontaneous day trip somewhere new.
19. Go horse riding
When I was young, I used to go horse riding. I would love to do this again, possibly on a beach or at least somewhere beautiful.
20. Go to an art museum
I love visiting art museums. There are so many which I still have not visited, for example, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam or the Louvre in Paris. I hope that before I turn 25 I get to visit one of these.
21. Learn how to play squash and be good at it!
I love playing sports. Squash is a more complicated sport but a lot of fun. By the time I turn 25 I want to learn how to play Squash and intentionally practice it to become good at it.
22. Swim more often
I love to go swimming. I used to go swimming ever week. I have really missed that since social distancing started. So, I really want to make sure that when it’s safe again I keep swimming as often as I can.
23. Grow my own plants
Growing my own plants is one thing I am excited to do. I want to grow plants which produce food and I want to grow them from a seeds. I am excited to see that successful process.
I love helping others and being a part of something bigger than myself. Therefore, I really want to take every opportunity I can to volunteer in some way.
25. Wake up early and make the most of every day
I want to make sure that before I turn 25 I make the most of every single day. I want to wake up early every morning and fill my day with things that I want to do; work on completing this list as well as being happy and intentional with how I am filling my days. We only get so many hours every day and I don’t want to waste them.

Learning a new language is a long complicated process. It can take years to master and can feel helpless, especially when trying see that point in the future where it will all click into place. At 21 years old I decided to embark on my journey to learning a third language. This was definitely a challenge and it took a lot of hard work. When I decided to start learning a new language, I didn’t have a lot of money for classes so I had to self teach. If you do have money for classes i would definitely recommend taking a class. This definitely speeds up the process. However, these tips can help either next to a language class or for those like me who want to self teach.
Read a lot!
This may sound cliche but practice is the most important part. I dont simply mean read some articles and hope to learn. I mean full immersion. Try to read every day, even if its just for an hour, set aside some time to learn this language. If you read a small story or ever newspaper articles every day you will expand your vocabulary and really get a feel for this language. Soon you will remember the words and their meaning and be able to build onto that.
Finding a topic you enjoy to read about is important. I found that children’s stories or books did bore me sometimes so to shake it up I would read the news or other topics I enjoyed like law.

Reading newspaper articles. Find topics that interest you. in the beginning you will encounter a lot of words you don’t understand and it will take very very long to read one page. This word list should include words and definitions as well as the translation in your mother tongue to make it easier. Any word you encounter, write it down. this will help memorising and it will be available for you when you need it. When I didn’t write down the words then I would always forget and have waste time looking it up again and again.
For example: (in French)
Make sure you start at the right level. Don’t try to run before you can walk. always begin with an easy level. However it is important to challenge yourself. Don’t forget to increase the level over time.
I would start by reading childrens news articles, watching childrens tv shows, reading children’s books and watching the children’s news online. Then to challenge myself start reading articles for higher levels and watch the normal adult news.
I can now read complex legal language in my third language.
3. Practice writing
To practice writing I would always start small and work my way up. I would write small sentences and then check my spelling and grammar after the fact or get someone I know to check my spelling. Online you can sometimes find people to do an email exchange with to learn that language.
What also helps is using word documents to type out sentences and paragraphs to see where you are going wrong. Writing helps test your knowledge and practice your spelling. It is important to make sure you practice reading, writing and speaking skills in your language because you want to keep an equal level in all three skills. Otherwise it will be difficult to proceed in learning your language, and they often complement each other. For example, reading a word will help me with remembering how to pronounce that word and writing it down will help me remember all my new vocabulary.
4. Listening and speaking
Watching the language helps a lot to hear people speaking: to understand the pronunciation of words and to learn the grammar of sentences. This is also enjoyable to watch shows or the news or any YouTube video on a topic you enjoy, for example a makeup tutorial in dutch. This also helped me practice my pronunciation a lot. Through listening and repeating words and sentences, this helps understand how to say it and builds you confidence when speaking to others.
Staying consistent and making a schedule is important for leaning a language. If you do not stay practice the language often then you risk forgetting a lot and having to start over. If you carve out a couple of hours a week or even an hour every day, you will be able to pick up the language a lot better.
A schedule can be committing to one evening a week, three times a week or even one hour every day. An intentional schedule will help keep you on track and focused.
16:00- 1 hour of Spanish
14:00- 2 hours of Spanish
20:00- 1 hour of spanish

Life nowadays have changed drastically for everyone. I feel that social media is filled with posts about work out progress or using this time to work more. This puts A LOT of pressure and expectations on people. Some days in quarantine will be productive and busy but other days will still be hard. I think that’s OK.
Everyone handles situations differently and everyone needs different things for their own mental well being. So I don’t think putting one goal or routine onto everyone works in a time like these. Some days I just want to relax and watch TV a bit longer than usual and THAT’S OK. Other days I try to stay busy and make plans to fill my day and that’s also OK. I think each person needs to do what makes them happy and take a break when they need to as well.
That being said I here is a day in my life during quarantine. Some things I try to incorporate into my days is a work out, a spiritual session, time carved out for my blog or studying, some days I have to attend classes and I always try to make sure that after 6 pm I don’t have to work anymore. This obviously varies from day to day depending on how I feel.
My day normally start around 7 am to 8 am. I always try to start with a spiritual session, for me that’s meditation. After that I eat breakfast, today that was just some toast with some green tea. After my breakfast I went for a walk with my adorable rescue dog. I am pretty thankful because I live in the countryside so when I go for a walk I don’t see any people and there is always enough space to pass by while respecting social distancing. Some days before my walk I will work out. I do this to get my exercise for the day out of the way so I can focus on work. This morning I didn’t feel like it so i decided to move my work out to this afternoon.

After walking, It was lunch time. I decided to make some pasta for lunch and it did not disappoint.
After lunch I always grab a cappuccino and I start studying for a couple of hours. I normally try to set goals of what to finish, for example, read a chapter or read certain case law. I found that setting a specific time for me to study didn’t help me focus or stick to my goals well.
After studying I worked a little on my blog and then I did my workout. Nowadays I try to do indoor workout routines, I always look up certain exercises for my core strength and some cardio. I always finish with some yoga poses and my favourite right now is the sun salutation.
At this point, it is 6 pm and I have finished work for the day. I normally try to relax a bit before cooking dinner. Tonight, for dinner, is a salad with some vegetarian sausages. It was very delicious. After dinner I always watch some TV shows or a movie on Netflix. Tonight I watched the movie Oceans 8. I’ve been waiting 2 years to see it because I just missed seeing it in cinema and wanted to wait till it was on Netflix. This week it finally is! I ended my evening by video calling loved ones. I am very grateful for technology these days, makes isolation a little less lonely.

I always hated the first day of class, when they would make you stand up and say your name, hobbies and why you like the course but here i go:
Welcome to Daily life & me. My lifestyle blog. I am a law student in my 20’s, living in Europe. I moved to different countries when I was younger but now I study at university full time. Most of my days are spent studying for law school or attending classes at university. However, I try to keep a healthy lifestyle by eating healthy and exercising. I play squash, go swimming or find some other workout I can do in between.
My hobbies include playing guitar, many forms of painting, photography… As long as I can be creative, I’m happy.
I want to keep this blog anonymous so I can let my stories speak for themselves. I’ll be posting about my life, anything from daily routines, to studying for law school. I hope that my blog will be able to help others, whether that be to inspire someone or simply have enjoyable content. My plan is to simply write about what I enjoy and I hope you enjoy it too.
